Q: What is the best age for watching kinderbright's® videos?
A: We recommend our videos for children ages 2 thru 4. Because each child's learning style is unique, the optimal age to start, and the speed with which your child will learn, will vary. The American Academy of Pediatrics has also issued guidelines, and they recommend 2 years of age before beginning.
Q: Are there advantages to beginning early?
A: The younger the child, the greater is the opportunity to create neuropathways, the foundation of what we call "intelligence." This is why intense and joyful intellectual stimulation before the age of 6 is so important. In fact, the speed of neurodevelopment (the slope of the curve) decreases with each year of life. And after the age of six, new neuropathways are much more difficult to create. This is why we encourage parents to start their children with our videos as close to age 2 as possible.
Q: Isn't 2 years of age too early?
Have you have ever considered not talking to your newborn? Most parents would think that quite ridiculous. But if no one ever spoke to a child, he would have a very difficult time learning to speak and understand if he was 3 or 4 before parents began talking. We believe the same about reading. The earlier we start, the easier it is. The key is its presentation, which means the sophisticated blending of visual and musical arts with the science of education and learning.
Q: How are your videos different from others?
A: Children's videos are often well-produced, but their core philosophy is very different. Our goal is not to entertain; it is to educate. Entertainment often means cartoons, loud music and sound effects, all of which can lead to a very scattered experience and interfere with the very ideas the video is trying to teach.
At kinderbright®, we present concepts in a way that is both rapid and intensely focused, with pictures of real people, places and things which young children inherently find interesting. We also eliminate everything which might compete or interefere with what we are teaching.
Q: Is a video as effective as an interactive computer program?
A: While our videos are interactive, they do not use the "point and click" method of answering. At kinderbright®, we believe that when children become quiet and receptive, they are absorbing information with little resistance, so they will remember a great deal more of the televised content. Children naturally point to the television when they watch our programming. Sometimes they even run to the screen.
Q: What is the best way to view kinderbright's® programming?
A: Show the segments before any other entertaining videos, and only when your child is well-rested and happy. Always present the segments in a positive way, never as "work." It should be fun, because children love to learn. Let your child self-correct. In many instances, adult correction can interfere with a child's natural love of learning. Our videos use presentation styles designed to correct errors. If you notice mistakes, simply show the segment again at a later date without calling attention to errors.
Before beginning any new concepts, be certain your child has mastered the previous concepts. For example, do not begin Volume 2 until your child has mastered most of the 26 letter sounds in Volume 1.
Q: Do you plan to release other volumes?
A: We have begun work on Volume III, which teaches four letter words and the numbers 21-100.
Q: What is your return policy?
A: We offer a 60-day money back guarantee with every purchase.
Q: May we contact you with questions?
A: Please do! You can reach us at anytime at support@kinderbright.com
